Traveling from Spain later this summer, psych rock gurus Mohama Saz have announced a 17-date U.S. tour along with a new remix of "Yorum 91" from the mystic maestro Jacco Gardner.
After a successful venture into the U.S. in 2022, Spanish psych outfit Mohama Saz painted the West Coast with their Technicolor mixture of Mediterranean psychedelia, flamenco rock, some Turkish flair, and a dash of spiritual jazz.
The tones of the esteemed electric Baglama Saz enchanted the hearts and minds of their Western audiences while on the road with Hooveriii. After selling out of all their merch last year by their 5th show, they decided to bring more goods this time around and repress their "Quemar Las Naves" LP and release a remix of "Yorum 91" with Jacco Gardner.
We had a chance to catch up with Mohama Saz before they make their journey to the U.S. this August.
Q: How was it working with Jacco Gardner for the “Yorum 91” remix? Could you describe how the collab came together?
A: We met Jacco some years ago when we played with another band called Melange. We collaborated with him because we were fans of each other. One year ago, we shared a stage at the Barcelona Psych Fest 2022 with his solo project, Metius, and we thought it would be great if he did a remix of one of our songs. We chose one of our most danceable songs and he had total freedom to transform it into a kind of theme for an alien rave.
Q: For your next US tour, what’re you looking forward to? Any venues or cities, why?
A: We are looking forward to starting this tour because the reception was incredible on our last US visit. We sold all of our records and merch in the first six shows...was insane!
We are really happy to go back to Zebulon in LA, Eli’s in Oakland, Long Beach, the Ugly Things Magazine anniversary at Casbah, and also play at all these new venues and amazing places in California, Arizona, and Texas. We're so excited to play at the legendary 13th Floor in Austin, The Texan Theater in Greenville, Proletariat in Galveston, Tiki Oasis in San Diego, Sacramento…we can’t wait!!
