The Wiltern was droning with energy as New Found Glory took the stage for 20th anniversary of Catalyst. Fans across generations gathered into this iconic venue to witness the sound of force that is New Found Glory, a pillar in the pop-punk scene.
New Found Glory brings pop-punk nostalgia to The Wiltern for 20 years of 'Catalyst'. Anthemic pop-punk energy was delivered grasping the hearts of the fans, new and old alike. The catchy hooks and tight driving guitars defined the the sound of 2000s pop-punk sound.
The stage design was enrobed with Catalyst's album art design, while flashing lights synced to the band's high-energy music. It was like a time-capsule!
Cyrus Bolooki's tight drumming commandeered the whole venue as he pounded the drums which was a staple in the pop-punk scene. That guy must have Red Bull in his veins. Jumping around whilst making faces was Ian Grushka on bass which I think was very "bass-player" like. I wasn't surprised and was entertained at the same time. Jordan Pundik's voice was still the same 20 years later. How can that dude still belt out the high notes! Very, very impressive. Subbing in for Chad Gilbert was Dan O'Connor from powerhouse 'Four Year Strong'.
The band also performed their new collaboration with Disney's "A Whole New Sound" - Part of Your World cover. Pundik came out from the side stage with a long red wig on reminiscent to Little Mermaid's 'Ariel'. Of course they had to play their cover of 'Let It Go', and yes Jordan also donned a long white wig like 'Elsa'!
Sealing the night was a high-octane performance of 'My Friends Over You' and 'Intro' as the burst of confetti fell down. I felt like I now have the energy to take on the world. Thank you New Found Glory for still staying around and keeping our teen angst alive. You are the representation of the youthful energy our adult-life is getting sucked out off from all the bills and the 8-5 jobs. We promise to keep the music alive as well. See you Catalyst 40 years later, and forevermore.
